Title: move with directory name
Post by: mrMuppet on April 25, 2013, 04:52:42 PM
Hi,

at the moment im am only using picasa to oraganize my pics. Because of that my fotos are always in a dir that is named after e.g. a event ("birthday daddy") now i want to reorganize them.
I would like to scan all recursive directories for fotos and would like to move them to another drive with the structure /year/month/"event"/ .

How can i do that? My main problem is to use the directory name. or can i write the directory name to the metadata easily?

I had an analogous problem, you can find my topic below your. By the way, try this:

exiftool -r "-directory<DEST/$datetimeoriginal/$directory" -d %y/%m DIR_WITH_YOUR_PIC

Switch double quotes with quotes if you're on linux or mac.

Thanks. I will try that.

Now i've found the doc for dir management https://exiftool.org/filename.html (https://exiftool.org/filename.html) (found it in your thread)
