Title: Altitude tag required when seting coordinates?
Post by: den on May 04, 2013, 01:49:02 AM
Hi,

On this page, https://exiftool.org/TagNames/GPS.html (https://exiftool.org/TagNames/GPS.html) is written that if coordinates are set, altitude has to be set as well. But what if the altitude is unknown? Can the two altitude tags not be omitted? Do I have to set it to 0? One of my cameras set the altitude always to just some thing over 20'000m...

Thanks!

It is not uncommon to have a missing altitude, so I wouldn't worry about this.  Maybe I should change the documentation to soften the wording for altitude.
