Title: Add Fuji's FilmMode to Filename
Post by: amuelder on January 27, 2016, 09:15:58 AM
Hello,

I would like to append the Filmmode from Fuji to each filename.

This is my command line:
exiftool "-filename<%f_${FilmMode;}.%e" a.jpg

I get following error message:
No writeable tags set from file.

But I don't want to write tags. I just want to read it and add it to the filename.

According to Exiftool it is available
MakerNotes   FilmMode   F2/Fujichrome (Velvia)

Thanks and regards
Andy

I found a file with a film mode tag and tested your command on it and it worked fine.

Are you on a mac/linux machine?  If so, you need to change the double quotes in your command to single quotes.

Otherwise, can you link to an example file?

Here's the picture I'm testing it with. https://www.dropbox.com/s/96rwdkgh9ckowvm/a.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/96rwdkgh9ckowvm/a.JPG?dl=0)
I'm Windows 7. I read on Windows I need the double quotes.

Thanks
Andy

I'll bet you're using a batch file.
In a batch file, % used as part of an exiftool command must be doubled. http://www.exiftool.org/filename.html (http://www.exiftool.org/filename.html)

Try
exiftool "-filename<%%f_${FilmMode;}.%%e" a.jpg

In Germany we have a saying: "Those who can read have a clear advantage."

This solved my problem. I should have seen this on my search but missed it.
Thank you!  :D
