Title: J2K is used for jpeg 2000 codestream files, not jpeg 2000 images
Post by: bbrown@extensis.com on October 29, 2018, 07:04:15 PM
In my testing and in the wikipedia article, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JPEG_2000#File_format_and_code_stream (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JPEG_2000#File_format_and_code_stream), .J2K is used for jpeg 2000 codestream files, not jpeg 2000 images. You may want to update the documentation. Thanks for your wonderful product!

Yes.  I think you are right.  This will be fixed for ExifTool 11.17
