It's beyond me but this sorta looks like an actual spec for embedding GPS data in a file.

Camera Motion Metadata Spec
* Did you read FAQ #3 and use the command listed there?
* Please use the Code button for exiftool code/output.
 
* Please include your OS, Exiftool version, and type of file you're processing (MP4, JPG, etc).

Yes it is.  ExifTool supports that format too.  It is used by some drones.  Unfortunately none of the dashcams use this format. 

If ExifTool were ever to write streaming GPS, this is the format I would use.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).
