Hi all,

I was thinking of running a poll to collect your votes, but since such option seems to be void on this forum I am left with only option of collecting your comments  :)

The reason for my post is somewhat related to Google. Although Google (take, for instance, Google Photos app) does support simple search queries by tag names, it becomes useless as far as more advanced Boolean search expressions are concerned. But that is not the only reason.

Those of you working in professional industry (or perhaps even academic) often have to review hundreds publications per month to keep abreast with the times and development trends.  The volume of publications grows every year, so it's getting increasingly harder to read all publications. This is where the split of responsibilities and sharing become invaluable.

But once someone is stuck with the option of finding a table or a figure from an old issue that was read a few years ago it becomes even more difficult and time-consuming to recollect the journal name, issue number, not to mention that each publication contains up to 100 pages, so one has to thumb through multiple pages before picking up the right one in the end.

Those of you managing your private collections of meta-tagged media, screenshots etc, would probably prefer also to be able to access the collections of other like-minded people.

So I was thinking about a new cloud service that would enable such exchange along with advanced search capabilities. But taking it even further, I'd posit the following question: is it really necessary to meta-tag your content manually?  :) This is where cloud OCR-technologies may step in and Machine Learning trained on data manually meta-tagged by field experts may bring about a further improvement to facilitate the full automation of meta-tagging.

So I would appreciate your comments on that. Thanks.
