IPTC Extension field DigitalSourceType is a CV:

https://cv.iptc.org/newscodes/digitalsourcetype/

but identified as a string here, without the sanctioned choices:

There are many tags like this.  If I make them a closed list it breaks forward compatibility when new choices are (inevitably) added.

There isn't much of an up side to restricting these to the documented strings.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).

Thanks for letting me know your reasoning on this!  I am implementing a very strict adherence to IPTC schemas and it's been an incredible learning experience, actually reading these specs slowly.

The XMP-iptcCore:SubjectCode is even worse, with a very long list.  A quick Find on that page shows over 1,000 entries.  That would be a lot of work to set up with little reward.
* Did you read FAQ #3 and use the command listed there?
* Please use the Code button for exiftool code/output.

* Please include your OS, Exiftool version, and type of file you're processing (MP4, JPG, etc).
