In Canon DPP software I enable HDR PQ and save recipe to dr4 file. I do not know where to start on this.

exiftool -G0:2 -s -U -a -v2 IMG_9159hif.dr4
  ExifToolVersion = 12.77
  FileName = IMG_9159hif.dr4
  Directory = .
  FileSize = 9134
  FileModifyDate = 1709480963
  FileAccessDate = 1709493377
  FileInodeChangeDate = 1709480963
  FilePermissions = 33188
  FileType = TIFF
  FileTypeExtension = TIF
  MIMEType = image/tiff
  ExifByteOrder = II
  | Warning = Bad IFD0 directory

Editing change to HIF compared to JPEG was to brighten 2/3 EV to take advantage of the additional 2 bits. HDR PQ mode disables some editing menu items.

Thanks for this report and for the samples.

It may take me a few days to look into this.

There is no hurry

Let me know if you need anything

ExifTool 12.81 (to be released soon) will support this new format of DR4 file.
