Interesting question - I'm not observant and hadn't realised "tt" existed.

Here is an Exiftool command

I always use "code" for both commands and output (when I remember)

Here is output

The forum software used here (Simple Machine Forum, aka SMF) removed the [tt][/tt] button during an upgrade. The [tt][/tt] used the <tt> Teletype Text element, which was depricated in newer versions of HTML.

Phil was able to reactivate the use of [tt][/tt] by an edit of the SMF code.

One problem with adding in a button is that originally, each button was an individual image. But with the newer version of the forum, there is a single image for all the buttons.

See this thread.
"It didn't work" isn't helpful. What was the exact command used and the output.
Read FAQ #3 and use that cmd
Please use the Code button for exiftool output

Please include your OS/Exiftool version/filetype

Which is perfectly fine. I'll edit posts when I notice that code or tt hasn't been used because it becomes easier to see some mistakes when it is in a monospaced font.

But it does say at the bottom of every reply window
QuoteUse [tt][/tt] for exiftool commands/options,

for output

Additional fun fact, you can use [nobbc][/nobbc] if you want to insert something that the forum would normally convert. For example, the forum will convert :) into :)

Yes I noticed that for the first time when I read the original post in this thread (I'm embarrassed to say)
