Check for new version of EXIFTOOL

Is there a command line option in EXIFTOOL to check if a new version of EXIFTOOL is available for download?

I would propose this as new functionality within EXIFTOOL itself, as this would make it simple for applications using EXIFTOOL to check for new versions.
Just a thought :-)
