I photograph volcanoes and combine images to make both panoramas and stereo pairs. I use ExifTool as part of Geosetter to copy Location EXIF values from single images to the images I make with Hugin or Stereo PhotoMaker. The values show up in red when I do shift-ctl-C / shift-ctl-V to copy and paste.

BUT: When I click on the "save" icon, some image values go from red to black font (written to the file) and other image values vanish (not written). So far, I have only noticed this on panoramas.

I hate this when something fails for some and works for others and there seems to be no difference between files.

I suggest repeating the test with exiftool directly to see if there were any errors with the files that didn't get modified.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).

OK, I tried it again as a service of GeoSetter and it worked.

Perversity of the inanimate.
