On November 19, it will be 10 years since the release of ExifTool 1.00.

Wow, how time flies!

I should do something special for the occasion...  Maybe I'll offer ExifTool for half price.  ;)

Well done Phil.  Keep going for years to come.  I'm sure all these camera manufactures and software companies will be generating enough anomalies to keep you busy.

There are many of us who are eternally grateful for exiftool - thank you so much. I hope people are sending as many donations to you as they can afford.

Phil Harvey

Hi areohbee,

Thanks.  I do appreciate the donations I receive.  And thanks to everyone who has contributed.  Some individuals and small companies have been surprisingly generous.  Certainly not enough to live off, but enough to provide me with some nice camera equipment, which is wonderful.

An interesting point though: Perhaps the biggest ExifTool user (a multi-billion-dollar corporation that runs ExifTool on billions of images), has been completely silent in this regard.

If you told us the name of the multi-billion dollar company, would they have to kill you?

Should we be able to figure it out??

As mentioned on the company's blog.
"It didn't work" isn't helpful. What was the exact command used and the output.
Read FAQ #3 and use that cmd
Please use the Code button for exiftool output

Please include your OS/Exiftool version/filetype

Interesting.  Do they check the source code on each release to make sure you are not doing anything nefarious with their customers' pictures?

Looking at the forum emoticons, I can't find one with an evil grin and a diabolical laugh... ;)

Hello Phil,

congratulations and 1000 thanks for this wonderful tool.
The more I use it, the more I like it.

Best regards

From me (and surely my users, which use ExifTool via my software), a very big THANK YOU Phil.

We all know that metadata is complex always, and a mess often (especially if you attempt to manage images with metadata added over 20 years by with a wide range of applications...). Without ExifTool there would be nothing which allows us to fix, repair, convert and handle the metadata in our files.

May you live long, happy  :D and with ExifTool on your to-do list  ::)

Everybody who is using ExifTool should donate a small amount of money. Phil is doing a great job with ExifTool, and an even greater job with providing support via this forum. We pay so much for our camera gear and the more or less good software from the big companies. Supporting people who give away their software for free should be mandatory. Which especially means big multi-billion dollar companies who use ExifTool.

Congratulations and thank you very much for the great gift you share with us, your outstanding software.
