Something Strange...

OK, long time exif tool user, first time caller!  I have been running in to a strange behavior with my point and shoot camera.  We use a point and shoot for day to day general photos and just recently we have noticed that the resolution will change from 4608X2592(12M setting) to 640X480.  Now I do not believe in "ghosts in the machine" but this one stumps me!  I am almost positive my wife cannot change the settings but they are changing...we think.  Anyway I have copied and pasted two exif dumps in hopes someone can help.

Very odd.  Does your camera have any modes where it automatically generates a reduced-resolution image?  Are these from a video capture by chance?

Phil,

  Yes, I can create a still photo while recording but this is not the case.  It just seems the camera "switched" to the 640X480 about a couple months ago then suddenly "switched" back.  I am perplexed and the only thing I notice different was the highlighted sections(attachment).  It is currently shooting in the 12M mode again....so I guess I will just watch closely.  Thanks for looking at it...
