People tags from Windows Live Photo Gallery to Adobe Elements Organizer...help!

Good day,

I am one of those people who spent many years using Windows Live Photo Gallery to sort thousands of photos. Much to my dismay, I have now discovered that I can not easily take the people tags with me to other software.

I am trying to import the people tags into Adobe Elements Organizer 15.

I am a fairly capable computer user but I'm no coding rock star and have done a lot of googling to get this far.

I've made what I think is some progress. I can insert code into command prompt and use exiftool and, I think, I have been able to use the convert_regions.config but at this point I'm still not seeing my people tags on Adobe Elements Organizer 15.

I do not have the people locations showing up on the photos although I can see the keyword is populated with the correct name on the photos.

Any help to get the people tags working properly is greatly appreciated.

Use this command to limit output to just the Region (people) tags so there isn't as much extraneous data to sift through:
exiftool -G1 -s -a -XMP-mwg-rs:all -XMP-MP:all

It looks like WLPG is writing all the MWG region info properly without needing for the conversion, but for some reason isn't writing the actual names to RegionPersonDisplayName.  Very odd

What is the output when you run exiftool -config convert_regions.config "-regioninfo<myregion" *.jpg?  You can add |clip to the end of the command so the output will be copied to the clipboard and you can paste it here easily
exiftool -config convert_regions.config "-regioninfo<myregion" *.jpg |clip

Is the convert_regions.config file in the current directory?  If not, then you need to give the full path to the file in order for it to work, e.g.  exiftool -config C:\Full\Path\To\convert_regions.config

Another option, which may or may not work, would be to try copying the Name tags, because that is the only tag that's missing from the MWG region tags.  You could try this command:
exiftool "-RegionName<RegionPersonDisplayName" FileOrDir
But this might not work as the MWG regions might be in a different order than the WLPG ones.
