Date modification 2

I have a problem similar to https://exiftool.org/forum/index.php?topic=11013.0. In my case, I have some old (~2004) digital images that have been modified with a variety of long-lost (ill-behaving) programs. I've been cleaning up their metadata, including date/times.

I've reduced the images needing work to about 50 images where I can't modify the (incorrect) ExifIFD Date/Time Original : 2004:01:03 20:00:00.
Here are the date/time tags for one image:

Using

exiftool "-time:all=2004:07:31 13:03:20" (the correct date/time)

does not change the incorrect date/time.

Is there another way to make this correction?

First, it is not recommended to use -time:all=<some time> without using -wm w because it will add zillions of date/time tags that you probably don't want (see below).

Second, if you can attach or email a sample (philharvey66 at gmail.com) I can help you with a command to change as many dates as possible.

Thanks for the quick response. There seems to be some (corruption?) issue with these particular images. I've discovered that I can individually update the metadata tags for these images and get the problem Exif tag to update (I'm using IMatch). Not especially elegant, but it's a one-time task.

IMatch uses ExifTool to write the metadata.
