Dear exiftool users,
I installed the Image-ExifTool source on my SUSE 9.3, and I am wondering if there is a clean deinstallation routine (I tried already "make deinstall", but does not work) in case there is a newer version available.
Thanks for your help.
All the best,

ahab

You can type "make uninstall", but this is not necessary when installing a new version since the new version will overwrite the old anyway.

I tried make "make uninstall", and I get this message:
make uninstall

Uninstall is unsafe and deprecated, the uninstallation was not performed.
We will show what would have been done.

no packlist file found:  at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.6/ExtUtils/Install.pm line 318.
make: *** [uninstall_from_sitedirs] Error 2

I understand that a new version will overwrite the old one, but maybe there is a fix for that problem anyway.
Thanks again.

Ah, OK.  I just saw the 'uninstall' target in the makefile, but never tried it myself.  The makefile is generated using the standard Perl MakeMaker, so I don't think I have much control over it.  But maybe someone else out there in Perl land knows more about this than I do.
