I would like to be able to search in MacOS Finder by the date a PDF was created, i.e. the date embedded in the metadata. With ExifTool, I updated the PDF:Create Date, PDF:ModifyDate, XMP-xmp:CreateDate, XMP-xmp:ModifyDate and XMP-xmp:MetadataDate and the dates display correctly in the PDF Document Properties. However, the MacOS:MDItemContentCreationDate value does not update and thus I cannot search for the PDF using the MacOS Finder "Created Date" option. This is the option that works well for searching image dates. I can't find a PDF solution. Open to suggestions. Thanks.

MDItemContentCreationDate is updated by writing FileCreateDate (the filesystem creation date/time)

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).

Thanks Phil. That's a bummer. I avoid editing filesystem dates because I am scanning old photos and documents and entering the original dates. I was able to update MDItemContentCreationDate for my images without updating FileCreateDate. I wish the business rules were the same for PDFs.

I would prefer to use MacOS Finder to search, but at least Adobe Bridge can be used to search by PDF Date Created.
