Hi,

I am using Geosetter beta 4.0.49 plus exiftool 13.10 on a Win 11 Home 24H2 PC my camera is a Sony A7M4 and I am shooting RAW-L lossless compression Adobe RGB photos. What I did was to insert GPS information or change timezone and taken date and overwrite the existing file. From what I can see in Geosetter the changes are applied to the files but it makes the files unreadable for Sony IEDT viewer/edit the error message being "file format not supported".

I also tried out Geosetter 3.5.3. and older versions of exiftool the result being the same.

Plus I tried to fix the files using exiftool_12.76 fix_arw but got for the files changed with older versions of exiftool errormessage "Error: [minor] Error copying hidden data" therefore files were not updated. The one file changed with exiftool 13.10 was not touched by the fixing tool.

Help would be much appreciated.

Can you supply a sample of a file before running GeoSetter on it and after editing?

Also, after running GeoSetter, go to the Edit Menu→Show Save Report. That will open a window. Select all the text in the "Exiftool Execution Statement" and copy/paste it here. That will let us know the exact command that GeoSetter ran. Unfortunately, you have to drag/select all the text, as Ctrl+A won't select it all.

Also, where did a version 4.0.49 come from? The website says version 3.5.3 is the latest and the website has been unchanged for about 5 years.
Edit: Never mind. I found the link under the Help menu→Check for Update
"It didn't work" isn't helpful. What was the exact command used and the output.
Read FAQ #3 and use that cmd
Please use the Code button for exiftool output

Please include your OS/Exiftool version/filetype
