Whenever I save a file in Photoshop I get a preview of the image in my OS (Which is Mac OS X).
But if I edit the metadata with ExifTool the preview disappears. Is there a way to fix this?
My format of choice is TIFF.

Oh! I feel stupid now... it was only a cache problem...

It seems that you've figured out your problem, but note that
any information not stored in the file itself (ie. in the filesystem
or a resource fork) will be lost when rewriting an image.
This includes, for example, any custom icon, but I'm not sure
what preview you are talking about so this may or may not
be affected.

For this reason, I have provided a -overwrite_original_in_place
option for use mainly in OS X, which maintains the original
resource fork and filesystem information at the expense of
an additional copy operation which will have a performance
impact.
