again problems; to write a thumbnail into a jpg-file

I extracted a thumb (thumb.jpg) from one file and liked to put it into an other file (dst.jpg). The extraction now works fine. For the writing operation I used the command:
exiftool '-ThumbnailImage&lt=thumb.jpg' dst.jpg
Set the thumbnail image from specified file (Note: The quotes are neccessary to prevent shell redirection).

From the CMD-Window I got the message "The system couldn't find the file". If I don't use the quotes, I got no message but also nothing happened. What's going wrong (Rem.: I have a German enviroment)?

You need to use double quotes in Windows.  Also, be sure the
thumb.jpg file is in the current directory.
