Hi to all,
i have some trouble with my NEF-Files from a Nikon-D70s.

First everything is ok with the file. After using imatch to write the Keywords to the iptc-Field i cant read my NEF-Files...
After searching the Internet for that problem i found the exiftool and with it i get the warning: "Bad IFD0 directory"

I used the command exiftool -exif:all= new.nef, but the warning appears again and the file is always "corrupt"... :-(

Is there a hint to rescue my images?

Thanks a lot..
Bye Rolf

Hi Rolf.

Ouch.  The first step is to report this problem to iMatch immediately
and ask them if they have a solution.

But if you send me a sample, I will take a look for you too.
My email is philharvey66 at gmail.com

It looks like iMatch perhaps crashed in the process of writing this
file.  But the good news is the original information is all still there.
All you need to do is to replace the IFD0 pointer (bytes 4-8 of the
file) with 0x0008 and the file is OK again.  All you need is a utility
to be able to do this to all your files.  Check with Mario at iMatch,
perhaps he as something to do this.

Hi Phil, thanks a lot.
Some light at the end of a dark tunnel.
I informed Mario about this thread.
So you write: all you need to do is.. and that is the point.
I am not able to do that, cause i do not know how.
Do you know a utility which can fix that or do i have to wait and hope, that Mario has a solution?

Hi Rolf,

If Mario doesn't have a solution, I could whip something up easily
in Perl, but this would require you to install Perl on your system if
you don't have it already.

Hey Phil,
thanks to your offer... As i wrote i had informed Mario about this Thread and i hope he will read this. So i hope that he has an idea to clear that problem. If not, i will exercise your option to make something in Pearl. But due to that we will first wait what Mario says..
Thanks.
