Samayng AE 14 mm 1:2.8 ED AS IF UMC

Hi Phil,

First, thanks for your nice program. I often use it with ExifToolGUI. I'm running WinXP SP3.

I now have a new lens: "Samayng AE 14 mm 1:2.8 ED AS IF UMC" (manual focus). It has a chip to communicate with the camera.

I took some pictures to test with my Nikon D200 and D300s cameras. I noticed this lens is not yet recognized by ExifTool:
- Lens ID                         : Unknown (4A 48 24 24 24 0C 4D 02)
- Lens                            : 14mm f/2.8-1.4 D

I also noticed that the reported focus distance is always
- Focus Distance                  : 14.13 m
whatever the setting is with the focus ring (I made pictures with focus set at ∞, 2m, 1m, 0,5m 0,3m).

Nikon software (View NX 2) also reports incorrectly the lens (14mm f/2.8-1.4 D) but doesn't display focus distance.

I don't know whether the problem is with the lens, the camera or the software.

I can't answer your question about why the focus distance doesn't change, but I will add this lens ID to exiftool.  Thanks for the information.
