There is an ongiong discussion on Nikon Cafe about the lack of certain EXIF information from the D7100 (the current top end Nikon DX DSLR).

It appears that some data available for previous models (D300, D800) is not showing up in D7100 photos looked at by ExifTool, specifically some Commander (flash related) data. Also there seems to be more items that are listed as Unknown Info.

Are you aware of this? Is this the sort of problem you get with each new camera?

(Sorry, I don't have a D7100 image as an example).

Thanks.

For Nikon DSLR's, the custom settings are formatted differently for each camera, and extracting them (especially the flash settings) takes a lot of effort with hundreds of test pictures.  So far, nobody with a D7100 has stepped up and offered to help with this.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).

Thanks, I'll pass that information back.
