I now use the exif information to save information about archived jpg pictures in fields such as title, subject, comment as well as date taken, etc. I can see these listed in the directory with Exiftoolgui or Windows Explorer. Previously I kept such information in a spreadsheet. Having the information embedded in the file is safer. The problem is how can I get a printed listing of the directory showing the selected columns? Using Exif tool it generates one file for each image.

There are many different ways to do this.  FAQ number 12 explains a few and gives examples.
