You can format the time however you want with the -d option.  Use -d "%I%p" to give an output like "10PM". Common date format codes are listed here.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).
