Can EXIF or IPTC send approximate dates to Flickr?

Hi,
I am needing to prepare EXIF/IPTC data on over 2000 scanned historic photos.  I will be using the Excel import tool to apply lots of our metadata to EXIF/IPTC.  It will all get loaded into Flickr and shared.

Some of our dates are just a year eg. 1968 and some are Circa eg. Circa 1968.  I place this value in the EXIF field called DateTimeOriginal.    I am wanting these dates to populate the "Data Photo Taken" field in Flickr.  Testing to date seems not to accept these values.  It places the date of upload in Flickr Date Photo Taken.  When I view the EXIF fields in Flickr, it retains the original date eg. 1968 against Date Time Original and says 'Invalid Date Time' against Date and Time (Original)
Here is the example http://www.flickr.com/photos/94811749@N07/9650346565/in/photostream/
Has anyone tried to upload approximate dates into Flickr with any success ?

You might have better success asking this in a Flickr forum.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).

Thanks Phil.  I have asked there too so will check for responses.
If I get an answer I will add to this topic for future reference.

Update :

Flickr help staff have confirmed that the EXIF DateTimeOriginal field will populate the Flickr Date Taken On field on import ONLY if it is full date and time format.  Not just a year or Circa xxxx

Have sumbitted this enhancement to the Flickr new ideas page.
