Why have I got two entries in the Exif for my nef files? One under IFD0 and one under IFD. If I alter capture date (datetimeoriginal) in Lightroom it only alters the entry under IFD and not the entry under IFD0, so I end up with two different values in the Exif!!

Not sure I understand all this!?

Hi Bob,

By the EXIF specification, DateTimeOriginal should be written in the ExifIFD.  Some things incorrectly write this in IFD0, but ExifTool should also update this.  If you are talking about IFD1, then this is the thumbnail IFD, and ExifTool won't update DateTimeOriginal here unless you specify IFD1:DateTimeOriginal explicitly.

Thanks Phil. Looks as though I'll have to go back to using ExiftoolGUI to alter the capture dates. I though using LR might save a bit of work, but it makes more!
