where is the xmp data stored in an mp4/mov file

It is placed in a top-level uuid box.  See the XMP spec for details.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).
