Exiftool Update Issues

My computer died, and so I ended up updating Exiftool from version 8.62 to 10.67.  In the process, I seem to have killed a script that I use to clear out certain exif fields in jpegs.  Now, the script runs, and it runs exiftool against each image, but none of the fields are changing as they should.

I've run exiftool with the -v2 option on one single image (using the same settings as called by the script).  I'm afraid the output isn't giving me much direction (my apologies in advance if this is a noobie issue). 

The script makes a call to exiftool as follows:

/usr/local/bin/exiftool -CopyrightNotice= -Rights= -Creator= -Credit= -By-Line= -overwrite_original FILENAME

When I manually run the script as follows:

/usr/local/bin/exiftool -CopyrightNotice= -Rights= -Creator= -Credit= -By-Line= -overwrite_original -v2 "Arena(RL_171127_1RL0692).jpg"

I get the following output:

Looks like your file simply doesn't have any of the tags you clear out. What is output if you simply ask for the tags (leave off the = after the tag names)?

I'm sorry for the delay, but I've finally found the time to dig bag into this issue.  It turns out that ExifTool does not like my file naming scheme.  When presented with characters like parenthesis in the file name (e.g., "(", ")", etc.), ExifTool seems to treat the file as an unrecognized file.  Running the same command on a file without any odd characters works, and ExifTool can eliminate the metadata in the fields to be cleaned.

Is there some trick to getting ExifTool to work with file names containing odd characters?

ExifTool doesn't care about the characters in your file, but the command shell you are using might.  Try putting quotes around it (double quotes in Windows, single quotes on Mac).
