Chocolatey is a Windows package manager and can help to install and update Exiftool automatically.  I've noticed lately that the package maintainer updates the Exiftool package regularly, usually within a day or two of a new version.

Chocolatey requires a simple PowerShell command to get it installed.  Further installations can be installed from the command line but if you install the Chocolatey GUI, exiftool can be installed and updated from the Chocolatey GUI easily.
"It didn't work" isn't helpful. What was the exact command used and the output.
Read FAQ #3 and use that cmd
Please use the Code button for exiftool output

Please include your OS/Exiftool version/filetype

It would have been great if an update had removed obsolete pp cache files in %temp%.

Besides, it still uses http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/ - not even the old https variant...

Sent feedback to the maintainer.
