I'm sure this has been asked many times, but does changing the EXIF data using ExifTool on a JPG cause quality loss with recompression?

I'm specifically interested in changing the date on photos taken from my camera shot in JPG, where the year was off by one, but I want to make sure I don't lose image quality when the JPG is saved again with the updated "Photo Taken" timestamp.

No. Exiftool only edits metadata. It has no ability to change any image data.
"It didn't work" isn't helpful. What was the exact command used and the output.
Read FAQ #3 and use that cmd
Please use the Code button for exiftool output

Please include your OS/Exiftool version/filetype
