Hi, I am a complete newbie. I have installed Exiftool for windows. When I start the application, I will get introductory text, but can not type any commands. Whenever I press enter, I get jut more text. Also, if I drag image to the application there will come only sequence of numbers. What to do?

Assuming you're using Windows, you can drag/drop images onto the exiftool icon and exiftool will display data from the file(s)

But for the most part, exiftool is a command line program which you run in CMD/Powershell/Terminal/Bash, depending upon your OS. It is not a GUI based program. The window that opens up when you click on the icon is not an interactive window. It helps to have some basic knowledge of the command line.  You can get some details in the Getting started: Command-line ExifTool in Windows thread.

* Did you read FAQ #3 and use the command listed there?
* Please use the Code button for exiftool code/output.

* Please include your OS, Exiftool version, and type of file you're processing (MP4, JPG, etc).
