I would like to change the creation date at the root. I have tried to do this with exiftool but have failed miserably as the original creation date does not change in the 'File Info' in Photoshop. I'm not that tech savvy and more importantly, is this something exiftool can do?

Many thanks

You need to figure out what tag that Photoshop is reading.  Use the command in FAQ #3 and compare the data that exiftool lists to what Photoshop shows.

But my guess is that it is the file system time stamp, probably FileCreateDate, maybe FileModifyDate.  To set these you would use a command like
exiftool -FileCreateDate="2022:02:01 12:00:00" -FileModifyDate="2022:02:01 12:00:00" file.tiff
* Did you read FAQ #3 and use the command listed there?
* Please use the Code button for exiftool code/output.

* Please include your OS, Exiftool version, and type of file you're processing (MP4, JPG, etc).

A belated thank you, I'm on the case. Being not too up on this side of things, things are a bit muddy in my brain. I'll try and follow your lead but may have to come back with further questions. Thx

I'm afraid I'm back again. I'm still unable to change the creating date in the raw metadata of an image. I'm not sure how Photoshop is reading the info, but I attach an image capture of the raw data photoshop shows and have highlighted the areas I wish to change.

If there is a way of changing this a further talk down would be great.

Many thanks
