Hi guys, I'm new here.
First of all happy new year!  8)

My quest is simple, extract an 'Exif Aux'' Focus Distance'. The purpose of this is that I need to get this data in order to do real life measurement of natural life in museum images. We used to do it with other Exif software and a Nikon D800, which was able every time to get this 'focus distance data from all CPU Nikon lens. Just to avoid any doubt about this 'real life' size, I do have the math of my sensor, lens, setup into a software to make theses measurement with a 99% precision. All I need to make the 'math' works, it's that focus distance data!!!

We updated to a Nikon Z7 II now and it seem this same information is hidden...
Can ExifTool be able to extract this data with this latest Nikon body ?

Thanks guys, I hope ExifTool can solve our little problem...
Best regards

Phil will have to comment but making a sample available before then might be useful, in case he doesn't already have one.
* Did you read FAQ #3 and use the command listed there?
* Please use the Code button for exiftool code/output.

* Please include your OS, Exiftool version, and type of file you're processing (MP4, JPG, etc).

Good news:

Warren Hatch has figured this out, and has submitted a patch to decode this that will appear in ExifTool 12.39 when it is released.
