EXIF vs TIFF namespaces

I just want to check in and be sure that TIFF namespace tags are all tucked into the EXIF namespace, and simply not underlined on the page.  True?

https://exiftool.org/TagNames/EXIF.html

I assumed that TIFF only tags would be tiff:fillorder or something along those lines, but I see evidence they are all grouped as EXIF.

I do understand the logic, but EXIF only has a subset of TIFF attributes, and this is confusing to me.  If I can be of help, I have documented the fields that are only in the TIFF spec, and not in EXIF or XMP TIFF, happy to share.

I intended to post this in the Metadata section on the forum, not bug reports, sorry.  - J

The EXIF group in ExifTool really should have been called TIFF, because the base format is TIFF.  Of course, many standards including EXIF use this data format, but EXIF is somewhat special to ExifTool for historical reasons.

To answer your question, all TIFF tags should also appear in the EXIF table, as well as any other tags that co-exist with these.  However, only tags mentioned in the EXIF specification should be underlined.  I think I am just repeating what is spelt out in the 4th paragraph of that page.

Yes, I for once did my homework!  I was just asking if one had to use exif:tagname or if tiff:tagname should be supported, but it seems EXIF is the path.  No biggie, thank you!

"TIFF" is not an ExifTool group name.
