Newbie: Exiftool lossless?

ExifTool does not modify the image data.  So, yes, it is lossless in this respect.  It only modifies the meta information.

That's pretty good news. I didn't find this in the manpage or the homepage and IMHO this a very important info. AFAIK exiftool is the only programm that works with "newer" photoshop-files, the programm exif doesn't work, exif.py cannot write tags, and ImagickMagick is lossy and there compatibiliy problems with jhead.
