hi there,
i am not technically savvy at all, but i would love to use exiftool to change some times on some CR2 files that i have.  i would be using a statement like -
"exiftool -DateTimeOriginal+='5:10:2 10:48:0' DIR" (the example given on the exiftool home page)

now, my question is - on a mac - how do i put all of the files in the same directory, and how do i designate that in the command line.  i have multiple files that need to be changed that are all in one folder.

thanks in advance for any help!!!

Hi Nancy,

Probably the easiest thing to do is select the files in the Finder and drag them into a new directory.  Either that, or specify them each explicitly on the exiftool command line instead of "DIR", but that can mean a lot of typing if there are many files.

Hi Phil,
Thanks for responding!!  OK, I can select the files in the Finder no problem, but I don't know how to drag them into a new directory.  I don't even know what or where directories are on a Mac.  There are a lot of files, so specifying each one is not an option.
Thanks!
Nancy

Hi Nancy...

A "directory" is the same as a "folder" on a macintosh.  Create a new folder with shift-splat-N, or select "New Folder" from the "File" menu.

But if you're having trouble at this level, I'm sure you'll need more help than just this.  Email me directly (philharvey66 at gmail.com) and I will answer your questions outside this forum.
