Sorry for this question, I searched a lot at the homepage and ended at http://cpan.uwinnipeg.ca/htdocs/Image-ExifTool/Image/ExifTool/TagNames.html#id3_tags" target="_blank">http://cpan.uwinnipeg.ca/htdocs/Image-ExifTool/Image/ExifTool/TagNames.html#id3_tags with an error. I would like to create a variable in a bash-script with the title of a mp3-song. I also would like to suggest to make a link to examples in the first part of http://www.exiftool.org/" target="_blank">http://www.exiftool.org/ When I am looking from time to time to find something, it is hard for _me_ to find to some examples again.

I'm not sure I'm clear exactly what you want to do.
It sounds like you want to do this (in a bash script):

Code:
var=`exiftool -s -S -title MP3_FILE.mp3`

To view the examples, just type:

Code:
exiftool

You can also get to this POD documentation via 5 separate links on the home page.
(Are these the examples you are talking about?)

...but I'm not sure these examples would have helped you here.

Thanks, is there a tag for the tracknumber?

Yes, there is a "Track" tag (ID3 version 2 only).  See the
https://exiftool.org/TagNames/ID3.html" target="_blank">ID3 Tags documentation
for a complete list.

I've been there. This track is not shown with ID3 v1 Tags documentation.

BTW is it planned to make ID3-tags writable?

Yeah, ID3 v1 doesn't support many tags.

I'll consider that a request to implement ID3 writing.  So, yes, I plan to make it writable. https://exiftool.org/forum/Smileys/default/smiley.gif" alt="Smiley" border="0" />

(The way things have been working is that I have been adding read and/or write support for new formats only when requested.)
