I have a jpeg that was created from a .nef file with Raw Shooter Essentials. Missing after the conversion are fields like MinFocalLenth, etc. I tried to use the command exiftool -MinFocalLength=18.3mm -v2 dsc_4054.jpg (what the value is in the .nef) and I get the output below. Is there anyway to get this info added back?

TIA,

Bill

This could be one of two problems:

1) ExifTool will not add maker notes tags.  If the maker notes were removed by raw shooter, your only option is to
re-copy them from the original file using "-tagsfromfile FILE -makernotenikon".

2) Unfortunately, some Nikon camera models write encrypted lens information.  ExifTool will decode this information,
but can not currently write encrypted information.

I hope this helps.
