I have a bunch of pictures that I need to copy IPTC data from one field to another. I understand that the ExifTool can do this, but I cannot get it to do what I need (I'm no computer guru). I need the IPTC field #118 ( $iptc["2#118"][0] in PHP ) to be copied to the IPTC field #025 ( $iptc["2#025"][0] in PHP ). What command would do that on hundreds of photos in a recursive directory structure? I've no bash experience but I know enough PHP to look at it and understand it. I'm on a Kubuntu system with an AMD Duron processor and a gig of RAM, if that is relevant. Thanks in advance.

Hi Dotan,

If by field #118 and field #025 you mean Contact and Keywords, here is a command line that should you want:

Code:
   exiftool "-IPTC:Contact>IPTC:Keywords" -r DIR

Note that this will preserve the original images by renaming them to FILENAME_original.  To overwrite
the originals use the "-overwrite_original" option, but be sure you have backups.
