The RAR format has a particularly nice feature: One can concatenate files to it and simply extract them. So, for example, I can put a .txt file into a .rar and concat it to an image and simply put the image through extraction and out pops a txt file. For contrast, normally one would just add both the .txt file and the image to a .rar and have a .rar containg the image and .txt file. But using this method I'm describing, one can basically paste an image onto the rar. You're archiving just the .txt file and then concating the image to the rar, which combines it with the rar — and yet it still functions as a rar. That last part is key because while concatenation is possible with all files, only rar can still recognize iself, meaning the extraction is just as user-friendly as a normal extraction. This gives one the freedom to bundle whatever he wants with an image. You could put a whole Power Point presentation in there if you wanted.
