I am wondering — are there any plans to add write support for "IDIT" tags in .avi files? Is there some other tool capable of adding this tag to existing .avi files?

Thanks!

P.S. Background — I have a Canon camera that creates Motion Jpeg .avi files (with the IDIT tags in them). I use mencoder to recode those files using the XVid codec (resultin in approx. 10x smaller files). Unfortunately the recoder .avi files no longer have any IDIT tag, so when I upload them to gallery v.2 (which is capable of extracting the time stamps from the IDIT tags), I have to manually set the correct date/time for every recoded .avi that I upload, which is quite time consuming. A while ago I've filed http://bugzilla.mplayerhq.hu/show_bug.cgi?id=508" target="_blank">an RFE against mencoder but have not gotten any responses.

It may be quite a while before I add write ability for audio and
video file formats, so you should look for another utility to do
this.  However, I will take note of this request, and if I get enough
requests for this feature then it will move up in my to-do list.

Wow.  You're right about mencoder not responding to this request --
you made it last June and still no response!

Phil,

Thanks a lot for your quick response! I've looked around and could not find any other tool capable of this — any ideas which one(s) I might have missed? Thanks again!

Sorry, I don't know of any utilities that will do this.
