VERY NEWBIE question!!!

I would like to Change the CAMERA NAME and MODEL with this utility on all of my Canon RAW and Jpg files.  Is this possible with this program, and if so, could someone give me a clue?

I'm really new to Macs, especially my new Macbook, but I *DO* have some experience using DOS back in the old days.

Thanks!

Hi Margie,

I'm not sure what you mean by "camera name", but changing the model
is done like this:

Code:
exiftool -model="NEW MODEL" FILE

where FILE is a file or directory name.

(You type all this in a terminal window after installing exiftool.)

It is probably OK to do this with JPEG images, but it is not a good idea to
change the Model in a RAW image because this information is usually
needed to properly decode the image.

For Canon cameras, you should also change the CanonModelID tag,
since this tag also contains model information.

Thanks, Phil!  Could I change the CanonModelID tag in the SAME command (both changes at once)?  I need to make the change on an entire directory at a time.

Sorry my questions are so novice in nature...

I suggest you try reading the documentation, specifically take
a look at some of the examples.  But yes, you can change as
many things as you want on a single command line.
