First of all this is a GREAT app. Thanks!

For the moment I'm having problems with the XMP-dc:creator tag.
I want to use:

Code:
exiftool -xmp-dc:creator LASTNAME, Firstname

but alas, only the lastname sticks.
Is there a way to get both names to stick?

All the best

I think the problem is spaces on your command line.  Any argument
containing spaces must be quoted.  ie)

Code:
exiftool -xmp-dc:creator="LASTNAME, Firstname" image.jpg

But something you should realize is that XMP-dc:Creator is a list-type
tag, so multiple creator names may be added.  As such, exiftool extracts
them (by default) in a comma-delimited list, so commas within each name
may lead to some confusion down the road.

Ok.

The qoutation marks makes sense I guess.

I have noticed that as you said that XMP-dc:Creator is a list-type tag and thus can't handle commas between lastname and firstname, but it's a bit strange that standard dc:creator can. see http://dublincore.org/documents/usageguide/elements.shtml" target="_blank">http://dublincore.org/documents/usageguide/elements.shtml

I'm using exiftool paired with a database that has creator stated as "LASTNAME, Firstname", and it is more or less standard markup for museums and libraries over here so I don't think that my org would want to change it.

Thanks

XMP-dc:Creator can handle commas in each name, I was just
pointing out that it may be confusing to extract these names because
exiftool also uses commas to separate the items in a list.

But if you have a good reason for doing so, then the benefits
obviously outweigh this minor drawback.

And if necessary, you can always use the exiftool -b option to
extract XMP-dc:Creator separately.  With this option the list items are
separated by newlines instead of commas.

That could be useful.

Thanks
