Hi,
I'm using Exiftool in RealBasic but I have problems getting umlauts correct. Using the following with or without -L works great within terminal.app:

Code:

.../Desktop/exiftool/exiftool -L -overwrite_original_in_place -Caption-Abstract="---umlauts here---" -By-Line="dddd" .../Desktop/test

.../Desktop/exiftool/exiftool -s -L -By-Line -Caption-Abstract .../Desktop/test

But when I'm sending it as UTF8 from RB all gets messed up. I've been trying for days to get it right without success. My suspicion is that it has something to do with UTF8 normalization to do. Does Exiftool handle that?

Exiftool accepts UTF-8 encoded text by default.  I don't understand why
it works with the -L option if you are providing a UTF8-encoded
special character.  Try writing to a file from RB and comparing to the data
when you echo the same character to a file from terminal.app.  This will
show you what the difference is.
