Hello,

I have an old Olympus camera and in the Maker Notes of the photos there is this tag called Data Dump. It shows 254 bytes of unkown data. The data is exactly the same for two images that I tested.

Can anyone explain to me what this data is? Is it a sort of signature for the camera model?

Thanks for help!

Many manufacturers store binary data in images.  Some information
like this has been partially decoded for some makes, but up
until now it has not been decoded for Olympus cameras.  Usually
data blocks like this store information about camera settings, but
if the data is the same in all your images, it may store some camera
specific information instead. (like firmware version, etc)
