Hi

I'm new to ExifTool.  I have a CD with pictures taken by someone else.  None of the pictures have a DateTimeOriginal.  The CD was made in a store such as WalMart.  I think the camera was a Kodak.  When I look at the pictures, they have date stamps.  Is there anyway I can get that date so I can assign it to the DateTimeOriginal attribute ?

Thanks

Code:
exiftool "-datetimeoriginal<filemodifydate" FILE

FILE may be one or more image file or directory names.

thanks for the info in the previous response.  but that assigns the file modify date to the date time original value.  if possible, i want to get the date\time stamp in the picture itself.  meaning, the date\time that is displayed while looking at the picture itself, not just the file attributes of the picture seen by looking in windows explorer.

Sorry, I didn't realize you meant timestamps embedded in the
pixels of the image itself.

ExifTool does not modify image data.  You would have to use
another utility (such as imagemagick) to do this sort of thing.
