Hi Phil,

Handy tool, been using it for some time!

An end user of GPS2Aperture came across a problem when embedding GPS data in DNG files made from Minolta 5D MRW files. I've now done direct tests with EXIFTool (both the April 10th and 7.41 versions) and get the following error message:

Error: [minor] Error reading PreviewImage data in MakerNotes - /Volumes/Docs/ Ians Docs/Current Projects/general automation/Aperture/GPS2Aperture/test images/temp/PICT0033.dng
    0 image files updated
1 files weren't updated due to errors

The 'un-DNGed' file works fine.

This is on OS X 10.5.2, Intel.

Any ideas?

Yes.  The Adobe DNG utility doesn't properly handle the makernotes of
some cameras.  This is worst for Olympus.  In the case of Minolta, it would
appear that the Minolta PreviewImage pointer is invalid in the DNG image.
But most makernote errors are minor, so they can be ignored with the -m
option.

Thanks for the quick response.

I'll add an option for people to over-ride that particular error if it comes up.
