Some tags won't work completely (and hide EXIFtool console window)

I am using the executable version of EXIFtool with windows XP. I want to read and write IPTC tags from JPG images. I am working with argumentsfiles, to group 20 IPTC tags. Writing these 20 tags in one go works perfectly (I can see that with my hexeditor). But from these 20, the tags -Country-PrimaryLocationName and -OriginalTransmissionReference are not read. Does anyone have any idea why?

Also, I like to keep EXIFtool hidden during the proces. The black console window which keeps popping up during the work process does not improve the sight on the GUI which I want to create for Exiftool. How can I do that?

hi Hans. When you say the two tags are not
read: by what software?  If exiftool, the reason
is usually faq 3.

I can't help with the window problem, but
there must be a way to do it because
nobody else has complained about this,
and lots of Windows apps use exiftool. -Phil

Thanks Phil. I think you are right about faq 3. I have been playing with the names and now it workes nicely. Too bad about the window problem. No solution for that one yet.

Hans.

Hi Hans, the visibility of the console window is set via the function call which creates that window.  In other words, it depends on what programming tool you are using.  In Visual Basic .NET, if you're using System.Diagnostics.Process.Start to start the exiftool process, the console visibility is set with the .CreateNoWindow property.

Thanks for this answer, Tim. However, I am working with BBC basic for Windows and I do not have much experience with windows API's. so I shall have to do some more research to make it function the way I want it to.
