Hello,
After read many lines, i have two questions (not found)
I Use one PEF (RAW Pentax), his name for example is _igp6003.pef
My first example for extract Big Picture (full Jpeg include raw)
exiftool -b -JpgFromRaw _IGP6003.PEF > FullSize.Jpg
It's runs very well, but how copy into My File 'FullSize.Jpg" the Binary exif ?? (No text mode exif)
I search with basics cmds, but not found.

After 2Th question:
If i want delete the "JpegFromRaw" of my master PEF (or make one copy) of him WITHOUT the internal file
include named JpegFromRaw, but keep the others Exifs and the Thubmail
(in my original file or one new file create)
I many search...

Please if one user put one little cmd line.
Many thank's

Best Regards, Jpette

Hi Jpette,

To copy metadata from the PEF to the JPG, use this command:

exiftool -tagsfromfile %d%f.PEF -all:all FILE.JPG

Where FILE.JPG is one or more JPG file names.  Or you can add -ext jpg to this command and specify directory names instead of file names.

I would not recommend deleting the JpegFromRaw because some software may rely in this existing.  However, you could replace it with a smaller version like this:

exiftool "-jpgfromraw<previewimage" FILE.PEF

- Phil
...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).

Many many thank's Phil
@Phil:
One little idea, add this cmd example into the doc (With Pef, Nef, Crw,etc...choice)
This cmd help to verify what software use the "real view" of raw (and not Jpeg Picture)

All others
Runs very well for (Pef)
exiftool "-jpgfromraw<previewimage" FILE.PEF
The idea here is optimize workflow production (size), benefit is average 15% of the size of picture,
But is very important keep original.
The idea is use Exiftool for optimize size of Pef, and reverse method After for "rebuilt" originam pef
is need (with for example DCraw) extract Jpeg and import this Jpeg with Exiftool.

Example good (with optimized PEF):
Lightroom 3.x
Bible Pro 5.x
Sylkypix Pro
Rawtherapee
Photivo
Riot (Not editor, But Optimizer Jpeg here)

May Be others...?

Average: Look only "Tumbmail" or middle picture
Adcsee Pro 4 (Thubnail in preview, Full and good in Edition mode)
Irfanview (read in this case the Tumbmail)

Not Good: Pentax Digital Utilities (the ORIGINAL software of my Apn  :-[)
Read only Tumbnail here, very hard to work with him after.

I Updated this list with future test (hep users need)

Phil, fantastic your "knife swiss"

You mean like the first two examples in the Copying Examples of the Application documentation?
